Let food be your medicine and medicine your food.
Preface:
Hello best reader, my name is Dairah Castricum.
I have done an investigation about Atopic eczema, and everything about this subject.
First I’m gonna tell you some about…
• What is eczema?
• What are the symptoms?
• About the patient.
• What is recommended?
• Does is work?
Then a recipe that will help cure the eczema, that is also good to make if you don’t have eczema.
What is atopic eczema?
Atopic eczema is the most common form of eczema, a condition that causes the skin to become itchy, dry and cracked an it can hurt. This usually happens in the first year of life. Atopic eczema is comparable with normal eczema, but normal eczema is not necessarily in the first year of life.
By Atopic eczema it doesn’t take long for the skin recover.
What are the symptoms?
The causes of eczema are usually not very serious. However, it can have great consequences if it does not go away. The eczema often starts with just an itchy skin, after which the skin becomes red and it becomes very dry. It may be that bumps form, if you start scratching those bumps, it may be that you scratch them open. It may also be that the face starts to itch, your eyes sting and you start rubbing. Then it may just be that your eyes start to water a lot, it is likely that your eyes, lips, but also your tongue will swell very much. If this happens, be careful not to keep making things worse!
About the patient:
Jack is 4 years old and come from Lincoln (Great Britain).
He has Atopic eczema since he was 12 months old, that means that he is always scratches his skin until the skin cracked. His skin is very very dry and red, it hurts him, he scratch his skin until it bleed.
The parents of Jack are worried about Jack’s eczema, they tries so much for example antibiotics but also moisturising creams.
They went to different doctors, but no one gives a cream that helps Jack.
If he scratch his face the eyes, lips and tongue swells up.
What is recommended?
The food hospital says that it can be that Jack’s immune system is hyper reactive and super sensitive.
The doctors said that it can be that he has an allergy for food that supports the eczema.
Jack his parents said that if he eats certain foods his itch is getting worse, and the parents will stop him scratching but that helps a little bit.
Doctors send Jack and his parents to a allergy specialist, whether he is actually allergic.
Two weeks later Jack and his parents went to Londen to a hospital, special made for people who are allergic for foods of something else.
Food allergies can be difficult to diagnose.
At the hospital was made clear that Jack has an allergy that supports his eczema.
It is certain, Jack has an allergy for milk! Dietitian Lucy made a diet for Jack, a milk free diet.
She said that it is difficult because Jack is an young boy, and milk is important by the growing process.
Lucy has found a replacement for milk, named oat milk. Also he can eat yoghurt, dessert and other things that is rich of milk, but is must be dairy free!
Jack parents get started with the diet that Lucy Jack drafted. Jack is so happy that he is been taking seriously by the food hospital.
Does it work?
After 3 weeks on a milk free diet Jack and his parents went back to the hospital where they have tested or Jack is really allergic.
They went back because they have a control, they put some milk on his lips and see what Jack’s reaction is. If the lips swell up and he will itch then can be concluded that Jack is allergic for milk.
After 200 mls the itching becomes worse, his tongue and lips swells up. His eyes sting and tear.
The doctor said that it is real, Jack is official allergic for milk.
After a month Jack comes back to the food hospital to see if the milk free diet works.
And the answer of that question is yes, Jack has still him eczema but is doesn’t hurt him and he doesn’t itch at all. The skin is no more red and it is less dry!
Recipe:
INGREDIENTS IN THIS EGG AND POTATO CASSEROLE ( GLUTEN FREE )
There’s nothing fancy about this potato egg casserole. Instead, all you need are just a handful of simple ingredients:
• Bacon
• Salad potatoes
• Mushrooms
• Onion
• Red and green bell peppers
• Salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic
• Eggs
• Whole milk
• Grated cheese
• For the cheese, I use a mi
Step 1: Cook the bacon in a skillet, using tongs to flip several times until fully cooked.
Step 2: In a skillet, cook potatoes with a splash of water until softened. Once soft, add in the remaining vegetables and spices.
Step 3: Whisk together the milk and eggs together.
Step 4: Layer the bacon, vegetables and cheese in a baking dish, pour eggs on top, and bake for 40-50 minutes or until cooked through. Super easy.
When you take this potato egg casserole out of the oven, it’ll be hard to resist digging in right away. But trust me, it’s worth waiting for at least 5 minutes after taking it out of the oven.
